# Reading AI citations

Use citation results to see which pages AI answers reference and whether the client earns source visibility.

## Mentions and citations are different

A brand can be mentioned without receiving a citation, and a client page can be cited without a prominent brand mention. SPI tracks these as separate categories.

## Review citations

1. Select the platform and scan context.
2. Open the captured answer and citation list.
3. Identify the cited domain and page.
4. Use citation analysis when you need the additional page-level enrichment offered by the product.

Citation analysis is charged per page. Review the displayed cost before enriching a large set.

## Act on the result

Compare cited competitor pages with the client’s page, then use Research, Create, Audit, or Promote for the appropriate next step.
