Creating a new client
Create a Rankability client from its website and brand, add an optional location, and continue into the Serena-guided Activity setup.
A client keeps one business's sources, integrations, projects, tracking history, Activity, and Serena context together. Create a separate client when the work needs an independent evidence and reporting boundary—not simply because you want another project for the same website.
What you need
Prepare:
The client's primary website domain.
The brand name you want displayed in Rankability.
An optional city or region when local search matters.
You can connect Google services, add private sources, and refine the brand voice after the workspace exists.
Create the client
Open Clients.
Select New client.
Enter the website, such as
example.com. Rankability accepts the bare domain and validates that it looks like a complete website address.Review the brand name Rankability suggests from the site. Edit it if the detected name is not the public brand you want the workspace to use.
Select Add a location when the client targets a specific city or region, then choose the correct result. The location is optional and can be changed later.
Select Create project & start setup.
Creating the workspace and its initial setup does not use credits. Rankability creates the client, prepares the onboarding Activity plan, enables the setup needed for technical site-health findings, and opens the client's Activity view.
If the domain already exists
The standard setup resumes the existing client for the same domain instead of creating a duplicate. This protects the client memory, sources, Activity history, and existing work that Serena already uses.
If you intentionally need a second, isolated workspace for the same domain, create it only through a flow that explicitly warns you about the duplicate and offers Create anyway. The second client starts from scratch and does not inherit the original client's context.
What to do next
Use the Activity plan as the handoff from setup:
Review the client name and domain in Client settings.
Check the initial website context and add missing client material under Settings → Sources. See Serena sources and data connections.
Connect the correct GSC, GA4, GBP, or other supported property only when the workflow needs it. A connected Google account is not complete until the intended property or profile is selected.
Review the suggested keywords and tasks before starting paid content, research, tracking, or audit actions.
The initial client setup is free. Later actions display their own cost or estimate before supported metered work begins. Your organization chooses whether to start or publish that work.
Troubleshooting
The create button is unavailable — Enter a complete dotted domain and a non-empty brand name.
The suggested brand is wrong — Edit the brand field before creating the client; you can also correct it later in Client settings.
The wrong location was selected — Remove it before creation or update the client's default location afterward.
An existing client opens — The domain already belongs to an accessible workspace. Continue there to preserve its history.
Client creation is blocked by an account allowance — Follow the billing or upgrade action shown in the product. Existing clients remain available.
The site cannot be fully read — Finish the workspace, then upload, paste, or import the important material under Settings → Sources.
Continue with the Quickstart checklist after the client opens.
